Current Imaging Studies Related to Substance Use

 

SMOKING AND/OR VAPING STUDY

The University of Pennsylvania is conducting a study to learn more about how smoking and/or vaping nicotine and/or marijuana affects lung inflammation. We are looking for MEN and WOMEN 18-45 years old who are able to attend 2 or more study visits.
Participants will receive a physical and psychological examination and one PET/CT scan.

INFLAMMATION STUDY

The University of Pennsylvania is conducting a study to learn more about how conditions like HIV, opioid use disorder, and the combination of HIV and opioid use disorder affect inflammation in the body. We are looking for individuals 18-60 years old, living with OR without HIV, who have been prescribed opioids in their lifetime OR are in treatment for opioid use disorder, and who are able to attend 3 or more study visits. Participants will receive a physical and psychological examination and one PET/CT scan.

KETONE ESTER AND ALCOHOL STUDY

The University of Pennsylvania is conducting a study to learn more about how ketone ester can affect brain function and alcohol consumption. As an FDA approved dietary supplement, it may help individuals to improve brain energy and reduce alcohol cravings. We are looking for individuals ages 21-65 to participate. Participants will receive a physical and psychological exam and an MRI scan.
