Welcome to the Akizu Lab!

We are hiring!

The Akizu Lab is hiring graduate students and postdocs to study genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that determine human brain complexity in health and diseases. Interested candidates should email thir CV to Naiara at aquizun@chop.edu.

We enjoy working alongside creative lab technicians, graduate students, and postdocs with innate curiosity and a passion for science.

Open Positions

The goal of the Akizu Lab is to uncover genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of developmental brain disorders and advance diagnostic and treatment strategies.

To achieve our goals, we integrate human genetic discoveries with functional studies performed in human pluripotent stem cells and animal models using cutting edge technologies. Our research has revealed novel genetic causes of developmental brain disorders, elucidated mechanisms that provide vulnerability to neurodegeneration in children, and generated innovative model systems for functional studies.
