Description of Research Expertise

I have an interest in early phase novel immunotherapeutic trials for patients with thoracic malignancies. I work closely with Drs. Steve Albelda and Carl June to translate the pre-clinical animal model data into human clinical trials.

Description of Clinical Expertise

My clinical expertise is in interventional pulmonary and thoracic oncology. This relatively nascent field and subspeciality of pulmonary critical care medicine focuses on patients with benign and malignant airway and parenchymal lung disorders and benign and malignant pleural diseases. I perform advanced diagnostic procedures for patients with lung nodules/masses and/or intrathoracic lymphadenopathy. In addition, I peform therapeutic bronchoscopy on patients with benign and malignant airway disorders that might include mechanical or thermal tumor debulking, balloon dilatation, and/or stent placement. Similarly, I perform diagnostic procedures on patients with suspected malignant pleural conditiosn. Lastly, I work closely with several industry partners on the development of new technology for patients with asthma and emphysema.
