Breast Cancer, Trastuzumab, & Cardiac Involvement

What impact does a trastuzumab, a common medication used in the treatment of breast cancer, have on the heart? We helped extract and analyze 9 years worth of clinical data on over 1,000 patients with breast cancer treated at Penn Medicine to help answer this question.

COVID-19, Telemedicine, & Health Equity

The novel coronavirus pandemic has reshaped healthcare delivery worldwide, with a rapid uptake in telemedicine. Our group worked in partnership with many others at Penn Medicine to help pivot to remote care strategies. But how does this shift impact those with limited access to the necessary technology or non-English speaking patients?

COVID-19 & Obesity in Young Patients

Early data showed that increasd age and comorbid conditions significantly increase morbidity and mortality of those infected with COVID-19. However, there is signal that obesity may increase the severity of disease in younger patients. Data on patients treated in an ICU for COVID-19 at Penn Medicine was analyzed in partnership with Johns Hopkins, University of Cincinnati, New York University, University of Washington, and Florida Health.
