DART Windows Patching Introduction
Windows Patching Introduction
Beginning in February 2021, Digital Academic Research Transformation (DART) will require supported Windows computers to follow a regular patching schedule. This change is being made to ensure that all DART supported Windows computers have the latest security/feature updates.
Primary Patch Day/Time
Windows computers will be patched and restarted at 11pm on the first Tuesday of each month.
Substitute Patch Day/Time
We will be offering a substitute patch day to accommodate users who cannot have their computers restarted on the first Tuesday of a month. Please fill out the form to be placed on the substitute patch day for the upcoming month. Note: Updates will fall back to the primary patch day for the following month.

Update Backlog
Due to the volume of patches needed to be installed on some computers, the first few patch cycles may take longer to complete. We do not anticipate this to impact normal working hours.
Equipment Control Machines (ECM)
Computers that control scientific equipment will be exempt from regular patches. If you would like to ensure your DART supported ECM is exempt or included from regular patches please submit a ticket.
As always please submit a ticket if you are having problems with your computer after a patch day or if you have question/concerns about an upcoming patch. Please look out for further emails with more details.
