Student Trainees

Each year, 3-4 trainees will be appointed for a term of one year with the possibility of reappointment for a second year contingent on satisfactory performance. Appointments typically start in their 3^rd  or 4^th year of graduate school, so that at any given time the training program will include 3-4 trainees in their first and 3-4 trainees in their second year of support (7 trainee slots/year). Each trainee's progress is evaluated by Dr. Granato (Program Director) based on thesis committee reports, publications, the student's lunch time research presentations, and regular required presentations at the Annual Symposium of the training grant. Until graduation, trainees and alumni trainees are expected to participate in the training grant specific activities. Students are expected to complete their research and defend their Ph.D. thesis within 6 years of their matriculation into graduate school.
