Prospective Trainees

The Hill Lab is an inclusive community of researchers that welcomes trainees of all levels, backgrounds, and interests. We believe that our collective strength stems from our individual differences, and that together we can achieve great things! An important part of our laboratory mission is to create a healthy, diverse, supportive, and dynamic environment for people to work in, learn in, and ultimately reach their goals! We have ample experience training individuals in multiple scientific techniques and research approaches including:

Wet lab:

  • Experimental immunology (multidimensional flow cytometry, cell sorting, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, etc.)
  • 'Omic assays (single cell and bulk RNA-seq, CHIP-seq, ATAC-seq, proteomics, etc.)
  • Mouse models (transgenic and gene-targeted mice, allergy and diet-induced disease models, bone marrow chimeras, adoptive transfers, etc.)
  • Human immunology (human flow cytometry, molecular biology, genomics, etc.)

Dry lab:

  • Bioinformatic analyses of 'omic datasets
  • Clinical epidemiology (cohort generation, analysis, chart review, etc.)

Potential projects include:

  • Studies of T cell antigen specificity in the context of allergic disease
  • Studies of macrophages-derived miRNAs in the context of allergy and obesity
  • Studies of extracellular vesicle (EV) -mediated intracellular cell communication
  • Studies of the effects of obesity and metabolism on macrophage function
