Who comprises the Penn Imaging AUC teams

Penn Imaging AUC program is overseen by a Steering Committee comprising of a multidisciplinary team with autonomous governance, decision-making and accountability for developing or modifying AUC.  The program will create temporary committees as required during the creation of AUCs. These ad-hoc committees report up to the Steering Committee for finalization of all AUCs.

Steering Committee

The Imaging AUC Steering Committee has autonomous governance, decision-making, and accountability to develop, modify, and/or endorse imaging AUC for Penn Medicine. This multidisciplinary team includes practicing Penn Medicine providers representing radiology, primary care, surgery, emergency medicine, and internal medicine. Several steering committee members have expertise in clinical trial design, research methodology, and/or statistical analysis. The committee also has expertise in medical informatics, quality assurance, patient safety, clinical operations, and information systems. The Steering Committee meets the requirement of at least seven (7) members with at least one expert in statistical analysis and at least one expert in clinical trial design.

The Steering Committee identifies and prioritizes topics for imaging AUC and incorporates anticipated future CMS guidance regarding clinical priority areas. The Steering Committee functions as the core group; the chair and vice chair appoint additional providers as committee members for specific AUC topics to meet the requirement of at least one practicing physician with expertise in the clinical topic related to the AUC being developed or modified, at least one practicing physician with expertise in the imaging studies related to the AUC, and at least one primary care physician or practitioner as described in sections 1833(u)(6), 1833(x)(2)(A)(i)(I), and 1833(x)(2)(A)(i)(II) of the Act. Thus, for each clinical topic, the personnel include at least seven (7) members, appropriate clinical experts, at least one expert in statistical analysis, and at least one expert in clinical trial design. All participants must disclose conflicts of interest, and are listed for the AUC they develop.
