Kyle Bittinger

Kyle Bittinger directs the Bioinformatics Laboratory of the CHOP Microbiome Center. His research focuses on bioinformatics for the human microbiome, with an emphasis on the effects of antibiotics, diet, and disease. He is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He has a secondary appointment in the Department of Microbiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

Ahmed Moustafa

Ahmed Moustafa directs the Sequencing Laboratory of the CHOP Microbiome Center and co-directs the CHOP Microbial Archive and Cryo-Collection. His research focuses on microbial genomics, with an emphasis on infectious and environmental bacteria in healthcare settings. He is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He has a secondary appointment in the Department of Microbiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

Brendan Kelly

Brendan J. Kelly is an infectious diseases physician and epidemiologist at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on the microbiome of the human respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts, with an emphasis on pathogen colonization and engineering microbial communities to prevent and treat antibiotic-resistant infections. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology, and Microbiology at the Perelman School of Medicine and a Senior Scholar in the Center for Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania.

Hongzhe Li

Hongzhe Li directs the Center of Statistics in Biomedical Big Data. His research focuses on developing AI and machine learning methods for genomic and metagenomic data, with an emphasis on high-dimensional statistical methods, including transfer learning, domain adaptation, and integrative analysis of genomics data using large language models. He is a Perelman Professor in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He has a secondary appointment in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at the Wharton School, and is a faculty member in the Genomics and Computational Biology Graduate group and Applied Mathematics and Computational Science Graduate group.

Frederic Bushman

Frederic Bushman co-directs the PennCHOP Microbiome Program and the CHOP Microbiome Center. His research spans the fields of the human microbiome, virology, and gene therapy. He is the chair of the Department of Microbiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
