Dr. Mullins will be speaking on BMP receptors and signaling at the upcoming conference "The TGF-B Superfamily: Signaling in Development & Disease" taking place in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Francesca Tuazon and Joseph Zinski will be presenting posters.
Welcome Ben Tajer!
07/10/2013
The Mullins Lab welcomes incoming graduate student Ben Tajer to the lab. His thesis work will address how the BMP type I and II receptors function in forming the BMP gradient that patterns the dorsal-ventral axis of the developing zerbafish gastrula.
Bon Voyage and Best Fishes!
06/12/2013
Today we bid a sad farewell to our talented post-doc Lee Kapp. He has tajen a position as an assistant professor in the department of Genetics, Cell, and Molecular Biology at A.T. Still University in Arizona. Lee has been with our lab for seven years now working on maternal effect mutants affecting the germ line and dorsal organizer. We wish him the best of luck!
Elliott Abrams Wins 2013 Holtzer Prize
06/12/2013
Congratulations to Mullins Lab post-doc Elliott Abrams for being selected as the winner of the 2013 Holtzer Prize for his work on "Dynamic Assembly of Brambleberry Mediates Nuclear Envelope Fusion during Early Development," published in Cell.
Welcome Allison Jamieson-Lucy!
06/12/2013
The Mullins Lab happily welcomes graduate student Allison Jamieson-Lucy to the lab! Allison will be working on oocyte development and maternal RNAs localization.
Best Sudent Oral Presentation
04/23/2013
Congratulations to Joseph Zinski for being receiving an award for having the best student oral presentation at the Mid-Atlantic Society for Developmental Biology Meeting!
DV Patterning Dynamics at the Mid-Atlantic SDB Meeting
04/11/2013
Joseph Zinski will be presenting his work entitled, "Dynamics and Shaping of the BMP Signaling Gradient in DV axial Patterning of the Zebrafish Gastrula" at the Mid-Atlantic SDB meeting on Friday April 19th at 9:00 PM.
The Maternal Regulation of DV patterning by split-top will be presented at MARZ
04/08/2013
Yvette Langdon will present her work entitled, "split top: A Maternal Regulator of Dorsal-Ventral Patterning and Morphogenesis," at the upcoming Mid-Atlantic Regional Zebrafish Meeting on May 17th.
Coordinating DV and AP Patterning
03/28/2013
The connection between Dorsal-Ventral and Anterior-Posterior patterning in Zfish is unraveled in the latest article by Megumi Hashiguchi published this March in Development! Her data reveals that the temporal progression of DV patterning is directly coordinated with AP patterning, and that this patterning is coordinated by interplay between the BMP and FGF/MAPK pathways.
Bon Voyage and Best Fishes!
02/13/2013
Today we bid a sad farewell to our talented post-doc Megumi Hashiguchi. She will be joining the Adam Antebi Lab at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing. Megumi has been with our lab for four years now, and has become a beloved member of our lab family. We wish her the best of luck!
The brambleberry mutant story makes is debut in Cell!
07/03/2012
Congratulations to Elliott Abrams along with Hong Zhang, Lee Kapp, Florence Marlow, and Sumei Lu for publishing their work on the brambleberry mutant! Their paper is entitled ‘Dynamic assembly of brambleberry mediates nuclear envelope fusion during early development.’
Congratulations to Yvette G. Langdon
04/17/2012
Congratulations to Yvette G. Langdon on her recently published article for Annual Review of Genetics entitled Maternal and Zygotic Control of Zebrafish Dorsoventral Axial Patterning.
