What kind of learning do you prefer?
Coffee Breaks
Pour yourself a cup of coffee and join us for a 45 minute break where we tackle a current topic or a change in policy or process. These informal sessions allow for lots of discussion and are applicable to all levels of experience. This is a great way to network with PSOM grants staff or to just sit back and listen to the discussion. Topics are added as needed so be sure to keep an eye out for the latest offering.
LinkedIn Learning
As a UPENN employee, you have full access to LinkedIn’s extensive catalog of instructor-led online courses. These courses include everything from how to use Excel to Project Management Basics to Mindfulness with many providing practice documents and job aids that you can easily download. Fortunately, we have tried and tested many of these courses and have listed our recommendations on each of the Learning Plans provided below.
On-Demand Learning
Need to know how to develop a budget or enter a PD record RIGHT NOW? Our on-demand videos feature live recordings of an instructor walking you through each step so you can pause and follow along at your own pace. These are perfect for when you are in a crunch or just plain forgot how to do it because it’s been so long since the last time.
Virtual Learning Sessions
In these 1.5 hour instructor-led sessions delivered via Zoom, ORSS reviewers explain core concepts, discuss the nuances of certain types of grants and RPPRs, reveal the common mistakes that GCs and GMs make when submitting grants and RPPRs, and review other key information. Most importantly, participants get the opportunity to ask specific questions about the proposals and RPPRs they are currently working on and to network with grants staff across PSOM.
SRAi eLearning and Certification
ORSS has partnered with the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAi) to provide the LevelUP Micro-credential Program. LevelUP consists of online courses covering topics most relevant to the modern research administration professional, including pre-award, post-award, regulatory, and clinical trial management. The courses can be completed any time, from any location, and you are awarded micro-credentials for successful completion.
