Hanna Elmongy
Post Fellowship: Penn Medicine Chester County Family Medicine Residency, Med/Peds
Hanna Elmongy
Post Fellowship: Penn Medicine Chester County Family Medicine Residency, Med/Peds
I grew up outside of New Orleans and Philadelphia as the daughter of Egyptian immigrants. I studied Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and was lucky to stay at the Perelman School of Medicine. Medical school is when I was first exposed to point-of-care ultrasound and began to imagine the extent of its applications. In the summer of 2017, I volunteered in refugee camps in Northern Greece as an Arabic interpreter to help deliver primary and urgent care to Syrian and Iraqi refugees. It was then that I discovered a calling to care for vulnerable and disenfranchised populations, especially refugees and migrants, both locally and abroad. To that end I completed the Harvard combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital to be able to care comprehensively for people of all ages. I am excited to devote this year to learning all I can about point-of-care ultrasound to be able to better serve overlooked populations in both humanitarian and primary care settings and to help create systems that will ensure equitable health long-term. Outside of healthcare I enjoy cooking and baking recipes from around the world and feeding friends, discovering cities on foot, board games of all sorts, puzzles, and watching international dramas “to practice foreign languages.”
We are thrilled Hanna will be staying in the Penn Health system, taking a faculty position with Penn Medicine Chester County Family Medicine Residency!
