Dr. Brady came to Penn in 2015 to begin her independent research career as the Presidential Termed Assistant Professor in the Department of Cancer Biology, appointed by President Gutmann. Dr. Brady is now the Harrison McCrea Dickson, MD and Clifford C. Baker, MD Presidential Associate Professor. She received her BS in Chemistry from Radford University and her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her postdoctoral work with Dr. Christopher Counter at Duke University focusing on pharmacologically accessible signaling pathways downstream of oncogenes, like RAS. Dr. Brady’s innovative research program centers on the critical role played by metals, particularly copper (Cu), in oncogenic signaling and cancer biology. Her laboratory has been responsible for major conceptual advances in an entirely new field of oncogenic signaling that she helped to found.
Dr. Hamilton serves as the Lead Faculty member for our Recruitment Ambassadors team, which assists in our recruitment efforts throughout the academic year. She is affiliated with the Cell and Molecular Biology Graduate Group, and she is an Associate Professor of Associate Professor for Pediatrics within the Perelman School of Medicine.
Dr. Kessler is the director of the PennPREP Post-Baccalaureate Program. He also serves as Interim Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Interim Director of Biomedical Graduate Studies, and he is an Associate Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology.
Dr. Husband is the co-director of the PennPREP Post-Baccalaureate Program. He is a Mitchell J. Blutt and Margo Krody Blutt Presidential Assistant Professor of Biology.
Dr. Bhoj is a liaison of the PennPREP Post-Baccalaureate program. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and her lab is associated with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Burkhardt is the director of the Penn - Postdoctoral Opportunities in Research and Teaching (PennPORT Program). She is a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and her lab is affiliated with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Diaz is the Co-Director of the Penn - Postdoctoral Opportunities in Research and Teaching (PennPORT) program. He is a PennPORT fellow and an Assistant Professor and Education Program Director at the Wistar Institute.
“Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor.” This quote epitomizes the driving force behind Edward Marshall’s dedication to providing higher education access beyond the scope of a limited few, particularly in STEM related disciplines. Ed currently serves as the Director for Finance and Grants Management of IDEAL Research, where he oversees efforts targeted at learners associated with the office. Ed is a first-generation college student, receiving a BA in Biology from Stockton University, as well as the degrees of Master of Chemical and Life Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park, and Master in Law from the University of Pennsylvania.
FUN FACT: Ed is a huge fan of live jazz music in small venues.

Lautrelle Gary

Lautrelle currently serves as the Program Coordinator for Trainee Affairs and Wellness and Office Management, where she assists with trainee affairs and group events associated with the IDEAL office. Lautrelle brings over 10 years of experience at The University of Pennsylvania, having served in roles with the VIPER Program in Chemistry and Engineering as well as Academic Coordinator in Bioengineering. Lautrelle is a proud member of WOCAP (Women of Color at Penn) and a recent graduate of the WOCAP Leadership Academy.
FUN FACT: Lautrelle started up a baking business during the pandemic and has had some of her treats served at The BOK Bar in South Philly.
Kat is a Research Trainee Affairs fellow and a post-doctoral fellow at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She is a lead fellow for the PennPREP post-baccalaureate program.
Kobe is a Research Trainee Affairs fellow and a graduate student in the Pharmacology Graduate Group. She is a lead fellow for the PennPREP post-baccalaureate program.
