Description of Clinical Expertise

I have a specific interest in developing and monitoring cost effective utilization strategies for medications in the treatment of common human medical ailments. I have worked as the Chairman of a large local Medicaid and a national Medicare Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for several years and understand the complexities of maintaining a medication formulary that balances patient needs with cost constraints. The added element of Governmental regulations and expectations further adds to the challenges in this field. My active clinical practice of Internal Medicine also adds to my perspective in this area.

Description of Other Expertise

I have an interest in Peer Review activities as pertains to the appropriateness and necessity of medical treatments provided for individuals who are sick or injured. I serve as a peer reviewer for Medicare, Tricare, a medicaid HMO, Medicare Part D, as well as for a number of national Insurance companies regarding work related injuries, automobile accident injuries, and liability issues. I am the Medical Director of a company specializing in peer reviews, medical record reviews, and independent medical examinations. Past experience also includes hospital and health system based utilization review activities.
