  1. Please describe your activities while abroad (eg, seeing patients, clinical research, public health project, etc.):
    Most of the program involved traveling (on your own and with the program) and classroom lessons.

  2. Please describe the range of activities available, in addition to yours:
    There is another program through the same organization for observant orthodox Jews.

  3. Would you recommend this institution to other Penn medical students? Why?
    Yes, the program was a great chance to see the whole county, meet other American medical students who just finished their first year, and get a sense of the Israeli health system.

  4. What did you not like?
    The classes could have explored bioethics in more depth.

  5. Is there an application process for this institution? How does one arrange a visit? Are there important dates to know about?
    Email NEIJS for an application. I applied past the deadline and I was still accepted.

    I don’t remember exact numbers. But roughly:
    Classes 2,200
    Airfare 1,000
    Food Plan 100
    Misc 700

    Scholarships are available directly from the NEIJS. Contact Rabbi Cowan directly. A 4,000 scholarship is available from the organization
