Penn Medicine trauma surgeon Jeremy Cannon, MD, retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 9 years on active duty and 12 in the Reserve. Now, Cannon will tap his work as a physician in both settings to examine practices in each of these sectors and explore how civilian hospitals can partner with military medical staff to sharpen skills. Cannon is among 10 military veterans selected by Stanford University's Hoover Institution as a Bochnowski Family Veteran Fellow for 2024-2025. He plans to draw upon Penn Medicine's successful partnership with the U.S. Navy to conduct research aimed at improving military and disaster readiness and advocate for policies to codify best practices at the state and federal level.
