HUP perioperative nurse Seng Phengvath, MSN, RN, immigrated to the U.S. from Laos, Vietnam when she was nine years old. Through the Refugee Resettlement Program, Phengvath spent three years in a camp before her relocation. She knows first-hand the importance of humanitarian assistance to those affected by war, which is why she joined the Navy Reserve Nurse Corp. Today, Phengvath applies much of what she learns through her clinical role at Penn Medicine to her military life.
