Nobel Prizes Are Coming Next Week – Meet Penn Medicine Contenders

The 2024 Nobel for Physiology or Medicine will be announced on Monday, October 7. Last year, Penn Medicine's Katalin Karikó, PhD, and Drew Weissman, MD, PhD, took home the honors for their groundbreaking mRNA research that gave the world a vaccine to fight COVID-19 pandemic.  As predictions swirl about this year’s winners, CAR T cell pioneer Carl June, MD, and neurodegenerative disease luminary Virginia M.-Y. Lee, PhD, both recent winners of the prestigious Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, are on the list.
