Studies Point to the Role of Diet in Hematologic Malignancies

Several studies presented at the 2024 ASH Annual Meeting indicate that healthy diets seem to play a role in the development of some blood cancers and treatment outcomes, including a Penn-led study, which found that a simple dietary supplement may boost CAR T cell function. Shan Liu, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow, co-led the study with medical student Puneeth Guruprasad, PhD, under the mentorship of co-senior authors Marco Ruella, MD, an assistant professor of Hematology-Oncology, and Maayan Levy, PhD, an assistant professor of Microbiology.
