Researchers are excitedly forecasting that multiple drugs and treatment options for people with cutaneous lupus erythematosus will become available in the near future. Breakthroughs for the disease, where one's immune system attacks the skin, cannot happen soon enough. "There has not been a single approved drug for cutaneous lupus in 75 years," said Victoria Werth, MD, a professor of Dermatology, and the chief of Dermatology at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center.
