WebMD Health Heroes: David Fajgenbaum, MD, MBA

David Fajgenbaum, MD, MBA, an Assistant Professor of Translational Medicine and Human Genetics, found a cure to his own rare disease through an already existing FDA approved drug. Years later, Fajgenbaum went on cofound the nonprofit "Every Cure", which is now using artificial intelligence to find hidden cures in other already-approved drugs. Just like a streaming service uses algorithms to suggest things for you to watch, AI can be used in the same way to find potential matches between rare diseases and existing drugs.
