Nina Bhardwaj, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine and Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she directs Immunotherapy and the Vaccine and Cell Therapy Laboratory at The Tisch Cancer Institute. She holds the Ward Coleman Chair in Cancer Research.
A pioneer in human dendritic cell research and vaccine development, Dr. Bhardwaj has translated groundbreaking immunology into clinical trials for cancer and infectious diseases.
She was named to Scientific American’s Top 50 (2004), received the Frederick W. Alt Award (2015), and was honored with the Jacobi Medallion (2020). In 2022, she received the AAISCR Lifetime Achievement Award and ESMO’s Immuno-Oncology Award. She was named a SITC Fellow (2023), elected to the National Academy of Medicine and recognized as Mount Sinai Innovation Partners’ Inventor of the Year (2024), and became a Fellow of the AACR Academy in 2025.
Dr. Bhardwaj is a senior editor for Cancer Immunology Research and Frontiers in Immunology and has served on the AACR Board and the CRI Scientific Advisory Council.
