I am pleased to announce that our Joe Baur has been promoted to Full Professor!!
Joe has been a remarkable member of our faculty, contributing importantly to all of our missions. His research remains exciting and productive. His engagement with mentees and students has been laudatory. His commitments to our Department, the IDOM and the SOM have been unreserved and widely appreciated.
This promotion was never in doubt, but it is excellent news. And a cause for a celebration! that we’ll arrange in the near future.

Named Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2022). Founded in 1841, RSC is the largest organization in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences. RSC partners with industry and academia, advises governments on policy, and promotes the talent, collaboration, innovation, information and ideas that lead to great advances in science. The designation Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) is given to elected Fellows who have made significant contributions to the chemical sciences. The names of newly elected Fellows are published each year in The Times (London).
Congratulations to Yale E. Goldman, M.D., Ph.D., for being named the 2021 UC Davis Storer Life Sciences Lecturer.
The Storer Lectureship was established in 1960 to invite distinguished biological scientists to UC Davis. Past Storer Lectures have included Nobel laureates, members of the National Academy of Science and acclaimed authors in medicine and the life sciences.
Congratulations to Dr. Ben Prosser on his selection as the recipient of the 2022 Outstanding Investigator Award of the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR)!
The 2022 Outstanding Investigator Award will be bestowed during the 2022 ISHR World Congress in Berlin, Germany (June 12-15, 2022). As a recipient of this award, Ben will present a major lecture and will receive $1,500 and a plaque. An announcement of the Award, along with his photograph and his biosketch, will be published in Heart News and Views and posted in the ISHR website. Alas, nothing in this life is free.. he’ll have to prepare a review article based on his lecture that will be published in the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, the journal of the ISHR.
