English as a Second Language (ESL) Course
Strategically Speaking: Building Fluency for Confident Communication is an intensive four-week course designed to support BPP postdocs who are non-native English speakers. Offered by Language ConnectED, this course focuses on enhancing oral communication skills essential for professional success in scientific settings, including podium presentations, meetings, one-on-one interactions, and lab discussions.
Unlike a basic ESL pronunciation course, Strategically Speaking is specifically tailored to improve spoken fluency and confidence in scientific communication. While pronunciation will be addressed, it is not the primary focus. Participants should expect to engage actively in oral communication exercises, including delivering mini presentations. Although this is not a course on slide design, constructive feedback will be provided.
This course is traditionally offered twice a year, in the Fall and Spring semesters.
