Italian Greyhounds have been around for more than 2,000 years. Small greyhounds appear in ancient Roman and Egyptian art. They were especially popular with European royalty during the Renaissance; Catherine the Great of Russia and Queen Victoria of England both adored them. Despite their delicate looks, they can run up to 25 mph, making them one of the fastest toy breeds. Their thin coats and low body fat make them snugglers—they love burrowing under blankets or into sweaters. They walk with elegance but are also famously clumsy; many owners joke about their “kangaroo hops” when they get excited. Italian Greyhounds often perch on the backs of couches and prefer soft, elevated spots, much like cats.

Mini Bernedoodles are a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Miniature (or Toy) Poodle, combining the Bernese’s sweetness with the Poodle’s smarts. Thanks to their Poodle side, many mini Bernedoodles shed very little, making them more allergy-friendly than Bernese Mountain Dogs. Even within the “mini” category, their weight can range anywhere from 20 to 50 pounds, depending on the parents. Like their Bernese relatives, many minis dramatically flop down when they’re tired—it’s both funny and endearing. They can have curly coats like a Poodle, straighter coats like a Bernese, or a wavy mix that’s the most common. Mini Bernedoodles are known to be a little stubborn as puppies, but they often “mature” into calm, affectionate companions after the first couple of years. They have a goofy, playful streak, often carrying toys around or trying to make their humans laugh.
