Darwinism comes to America: the Philadelphia response

Dr. Goldfine, whose research is focused upon bacterial pathogenesis, is Professor of Microbiology in the School of Medicine.

His recent book Listeria Monocytogenes: Pathogenesis and Host Response , co-authored with Hao Shen, was published by Springer in 2007.

Goldfine co-chaired Penn's "Year of Evolution" in 2008/09. His 2009 article in the Penn Gazette entitled Darwinism comes to Penn, a century-and-a-half after the November 1859 publication of On the Origin of Species, looks back at how Darwin's ideas were received by some of the University's leading thinkers. Goldfine also served as President of ASEF during the academic year 2009/2010.
