A Beneficial Bacterium Helps Wounds Heal

A bacterium found in chronic wounds can aid wound healing in mice, according to new research that uncovered a mechanism of bacterial-driven wound repair. Ellen White, a predoctoral fellow in Dermatology, who led the study with colleagues from the lab of Elizabeth Grice, PhD, an assistant professor of Dermatology, noted that “most wounds end up healing, which means that not all bacterial colonization is bad.”
