How Common Bacteria Can Accelerate Diabetic Wound Closure

A certain bug, Alcaligenes faecalis (A. faecalis), can facilitate healing of hard-to-treat wounds among people with diabetes, according to new research led by Elizabeth Grice, MD, of Dermatology. Grice told MSN that “we did not expect to find that a bacterium would be able to promote healing,” but their findings in lab mice and from tissue samples of people with diabetes proved otherwise.
