Incentive Based Translational Science

Welcome to the Program in Incentive Based Translational Science (IBTS)

Mission:

The Program in Incentive Based Translational Science (IBTS) is designed to encourage CTSA investigators to create patient engagement strategies using principles of behavioral economics and translate these ideas into practice in 'real world' settings.

Goals:

The goals are to develop collaborations, and connect investigators across the University of Pennsylvania to facilitate the incorporation of behavioral economics into health care research to solve vexing problems. The IBTS is part of the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics (CHIBE) located in the Perelman School of Medicine and the Wharton School. CHIBE is one of two original NIH-Funded Centers in the United States with expertise in behavioral economics and health and is comprised of approximately 70 faculty members at the Perelman School of Medicine, Nursing School, Wharton School, Law School, and School of Arts and Sciences. CHIBE’s mission is to conduct basic and applied behavioral economic research to improve health, health care delivery, and health policy. The Center has three primary goals: (1) To advance the science, knowledge, and application of behavioral economic intervention; (2) To train the next generation of leaders in the field; (3) To engage private and public sector partners to develop and test scalable and cost-effective applications.
