Web Design Standards

The purpose of this document is to outline the design and navigational standards required of all Web pages within the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (PSOM) Web site. Web site administrators will need to ensure that both the logo for the Perelman School of Medicine and any text within their pages that reference the School are up to date.

Logos

Sites affiliated with the Perelman School of Medicine must display the official PSOM logo prominently on all pages.

PMACS has made the official web version of the logo available at a central public location. We strongly encourage you to point to it in this location rather than copying it to a separate location.  If you have a unique need for a logo for web use, please contact PMACS.

The logo may not be altered from its original form. Neither its dimensions nor its colors may not be distorted, and it may not be displayed smaller than 60 pixels in height. It should be placed in the upper left-hand corner of the page for consistency and should link back to the Perelman School of Medicine home page.

Non-PSOM sites which are affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania require the use of the Penn, Penn Medicine, or PSOM logo

Non-PSOM organizations may house their sites on a PSOM-hosted web server so long as they can demonstrate a significant affiliation with PSOM -- e.g., organizations which are based in PSOM, but oversee or provide service to people outside of PSOM. Dean's office approval may be necessary. Those groups' sites must be branded with either the official Penn logo, Penn Medicine logo, or PSOM logo or may be co-branded with some other school's official logo (e.g., CHOP) as appropriate.

All PSOM, Penn Medicine, and Penn logos must never be altered from their original form. Their dimensions may not be distorted and they may not be displayed smaller than 60 pixels in height.

For the latest Penn logos and rules of use, consult the Penn Web Style Guide.

For information on Penn Medicine branding standards and access to official logos, see the Penn Medicine Logo site.

Accessibility

In keeping with University requirements, all PSOM websites must be WCAG 2.1, Level AA-compliant.
