DocuSign is an electronic signature service that can be used to request and track electronic signatures on documents.
DocuSign access is available to PSOM faculty and staff for use with low and moderate risk data at no cost. PSOM faculty and staff who would like to use DocuSign for clinical activities, human subjects research, or any uses associated with 21 CFR Part 11 and comparable international standards, should instead view information on the Office of Clinical Research website.

What email address is used for DocuSign?
Your primary email address will appear as pennkey@upenn.edu in PennBox. PSOM faculty and staff who only have a Penn Medicine mailbox should have any incoming emails forwarded to their Penn Medicine mailbox automatically.
Is DocuSign HIPAA Compliant? Can I use DocuSign with patients and research subjects?
This implementation of DocuSign is NOT HIPAA compliant. Individuals who need to use DocuSign with patients and research subjects should view information on the Office of Clinical Research website.
Is DocuSign 21 CFR Part 11 Compliant? Can I use DocuSign to sign documents for the FDA and similar health authority regulators?
No, this implementation of DocuSign is not 21 CFR Part 11 Compliant. Individuals who need to use DocuSign for regulatory purposes should view information on the Office of Clinical Research website.
Are UPHS staff eligible for DocuSign accounts? Are Penn Medicine Residents eligible?
No, UPHS staff, including residents, are not eligible for DocuSign accounts through PSOM. UPHS staff should contact the UPHS Service Desk for information about how to gain DocuSign access within UPHS.
