Mini Bernedoodles are goofy

Mini Bernedoodles are known for having a trait called the “Bernedoodle flop”—when they’re puppies (and sometimes even as adults), they often flop over dramatically when they’re tired, almost like melting into the floor. It comes from their Bernese Mountain Dog heritage, but with their smaller Poodle size it looks especially adorable and exaggerated.

Here are a few unique personality traits that make mini Bernedoodles different from their standard-sized relatives:

  1. Spunky & Playful – Minis tend to inherit more of the Poodle’s lively energy, making them a bit bouncier and more playful than standards.
  2. “Velcro Dog” Tendencies – While all Bernedoodles love their people, the mini size is especially prone to being a shadow dog—they’ll follow you from room to room and want to be part of everything.
  3. Easier to Manage Energy – Standard Bernedoodles can be very large and strong, but minis pack a lot of personality into a more manageable body, making them a favorite for families in smaller homes or apartments.
  4. Big Dog, Small Body Attitude – Many owners say their mini acts like a Bernese in spirit—gentle, goofy, and affectionate—but with the sass and intelligence of a toy or mini Poodle.
  5. Long Puppyhood – Minis often hold onto their silly, puppy-like antics well into adulthood, which can be both entertaining and mischievous!
