 Penn Therapy & Fitness Site is Relocating

  • Penn Therapy & Fitness is relocating its outpatient physical therapy site in Weightman Hall to a new site within HUP
  • The new location on One White will continue to serve the employees of both the University and the University health-care system along with students and student athletes of Penn and the local community
  • This facility will specialize in orthopedic, sports and musculoskeletal injuries
  • The occupancy survey is scheduled for Friday, February 17, and the facility will open shortly thereafter
  • Look for a formal opening announcement soon

 Enjoy free tickets to attend Penn sporting events

  • Penn Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics Partnership have partnered to provide health system employees and staff the opportunity to attend sports events for free
  • This partnership also provides discounts to various recreation memberships on campus.
  • Penn Medicine has made available free tickets for Penn Men’s Basketball, Penn Women’s Basketball and Penn Wrestling at the historic Palestra for the remainder of the 2023 season for all Penn Medicine employees. This includes six men’s basketball games, two women’s basketball games, and four wrestling matches.

 Mark Your Calendar to March for Babies

  • Penn Medicine is proud to join the March of Dimes in leading the fight for the health of all moms, babies, and babies.
  • Our very own Regina Cunningham and Beth Johnston will be Co-Chairing the March of Dimes largest community event, and the oldest fundraising walk in the country, March for Babies. March for Babies is more than just a walk, it’s our entry into making a visible difference in your community now and for generations to come. 
  • We want our HUP colleagues to walk with us!  This year’s event will take place on Saturday, April 22nd at the historic Navy Yard, but our efforts start now!    Go to March for Babies: Team HUP- riPENNedcervix  and click “join this team.”

Save the Date – HUP Town Hall

  • Join UPHS CEO Kevin B. Mahoney, HUP CEO Regina Cunningham, CMO Neil Fishman, CNO Colleen Mattioni, and CHRO Denise Mariotti for a HUP Town Hall at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 28th.
  • They will discuss the changes impacting healthcare since the start of COVID-19 and the critical role HUP will play in the health system achieving future goals.

 Leadership Announcement: Heart and Vascular Nursing   

  • Congratulations to Mary Anderson for her appointment to the expanded role of Nurse Manager for 9 Campus, 7 City, and the Venous Access Team, effective Sunday, February 5th
  • In this role Mary will continue to provide administrative leadership to the Cardiac Surgery Unit on 9 Campus while expanding her oversight to 7 City, the Vascular Progressive Care Unit, and the Venous Access Team
  • Mary received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The College of New Jersey in 2001, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Drexel in 2016. She is certified as a Nursing Executive, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.
  • Mary is a highly regarded leader who began her nursing career at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2004. Over the past 10 years as Nurse Manager for Cardiac Surgery Progressive Care on Silverstein 10/9 Campus, she has demonstrated sound fiscal acumen, the ability to build cohesive teams, and to lead through periods of uncertainty and change, most recently with the move to the Pavilion

 Leadership Announcement:  PeriOperative Nursing

  • Announcing that Celeste Porter has accepted the position of Perioperative Nurse Manager, within the operating room
  • Celeste joined Penn Medicine in 2022 as a Perioperative Safety Fellow. As a perioperative safety fellow, Celeste has led and collaborated on multiple quality improvement projects , specifically focusing on projects related to universal protocol and supply chain management within the operating rooms.
  • Celeste also has robust clinical knowledge in the field of perioperative nursing within the intraoperative realm, focusing on urology, gynecology, robotics and plastic service lines. In addition, for over three years, Celeste held a position within the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a nurse surveyor conducting inspections for nursing care facilities. She is also a Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
  • Celeste received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Delaware in 2011 and is actively matriculated within the Master of Science in Nursing Leadership at Southern New Hampshire University with an anticipated graduation date of November 2023.
