Future planning

Fellowship is short, and your career will be long! It's never too early to start thinking about the future.

Reach out to your faculty mentor and the other faculty members early in your fellowship (late summer / early fall) to discuss your career aspirations and what types of jobs might meet your needs. Here are additional resources.

Society of Critical Care Medicine Career Central: A searchable database of critical care careers maintained by one of the largest critical care societies in the United States.

Our Department has several oral board examiners (current and retired) who are happy to help you prepare: John Fiadjoe (CHOP), Sean Kennedy, Stanley Muravchick, E. Andrew Ochroch, Alan Jay Schwartz (CHOP). We're still working on the OSCE bit — stay tuned.

Board certification

Although some of our faculty have time-unlimited board certification, most of our critical care faculty are participating in the ABA's Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA) program. Check status here. Feel free to ask any of us about the process.
