Age related macular degeneration (AMD): Epidemiology, classification, diagnosis, and treatment

luncheon
Stuart Fine,
Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology in the School of Medicine and Director of the Scheie Eye Institute, will discuss "Age related macular degeneration (AMD): Epidemiology, classification, diagnosis, and treatment".

Dr. Fine came from the Johns Hopkins University to become chair of Penn's Department of Ophthalmology in 1991. He brought with him a keen interest in public health and epidemiology, which he has made a focus of the department as it moves into the 21st century. The Department also has shifted some of its research resources toward molecular medicine (genetics) in response to the growing awareness of the role of heredity in determining our destiny. Dr. Fine received a lifetime achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2006.

The luncheon is at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 9, 2009, in the Hourglass Room of the University Club.
