Follow-up Care

Ongoing treatment of geriatric mental illness focuses on promoting health and quality of life for patients and families, and may include medication, psychotherapy, social support, and education. Given the multi-faceted needs of seniors, treatment of metal illness in the geriatric patient includes monitoring of psychiatric and medical symptoms and conditions, as well as addressing the social and environmental factors that may influence mental well-being. The physicians and staff of the section of geriatric psychiatry at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania are dedicated to providing a patient centered approach to the assessment and management of late-life mental illness.
