Wilderness and Disaster Medicine Education (WADME)

About

On the cusp of graduating medical school, our students are filled with a tremendous volume of knowledge.  It all makes perfect sense in the context of the elaborate superstructure of the medical system. But like Mike Tyson once said, "Everyone has a plan 'til they get punched in the mouth."

It is in this spirit that we embark on a rigorous, two week elective in which students can take the knowledge they have gained throughout their four years of medical training and apply it without the protective safety net of the entire medical system. Practicing medicine while life circumstances such as having no supplies, being rained on, and being sleep deprived metaphorically punch you in the mouth.

We are proud to note that we have maintained an average student rating of 5/5.
