Clinical Research Professional Career Ladder

The Office of Clinical Research in partnership with Human Resources and representatives for PSOM departments, centers and institutes have developed career ladders that provide transparency in career growth for clinical research professionals across the various clinical research domains for management, operations, nursing, data management, quality/ monitoring.

Each clinical research role will require completion of required or recommended trainings in Workday and/or Knowledge Link as one criterion to move to the next role in the career ladder. Required trainings fall under the job role and recommended trainings appear in the subsequent roles. Trainings by career ladder for different roles are listed in this secure document Clinical Research Professionals Leveled Competencies and Career Ladder-Training.
These job role-based trainings will go-live in Workday/ Knowledge Link in a phased approach, by November 12, 2024, starting with Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) B, Clinical Research Quality Specialist A, Clinical Research Nurse B.

Staff will see assigned and recommended trainings on their Workday’s Learning Home dashboard.
Modules or trainings already completed should show up in My Learning, View Learning Transcript.
For issues with training completions, please email OCR at psom-ocrops@pobox.upenn.edu with staff Penn ID and completion certificate.
Please provide feedback on due dates, dates of assignment, notifications, training modules assigned for roles to psom-ocrops@pobox.upenn.edu.
