The Office of Clinical Research in partnership with the PSOM Society of Clinical Research Professionals’ CREATE Awards are celebrating a weeklong celebration of our Clinical Research Professionals (CRPs) to observe the International Clinical Trials Awareness Day during the week of May 13, 2025. Clinical Research Week is designed to demonstrate our unwavering support of our >1,200 Clinical Research Professionals and to celebrate their contributions.

MONDAY, MAY 12
High Five Virtual Flash Mob
Take a look at the Virtual appreciation message/ Hi Fives research teams shared with their colleagues from 2024.
Please complete the survey to send a high five to your team members. Submit a High Five for 2025
The slideshow will be playing in the Smilow Commons throughout the week.
Recruitment Tables
The Office of Clinical Research will host tables in PCAM Atrium for research teams. Teams will have the opportunity to speak with patients, families, caregivers about their studies and hand out flyers and brochures.
We will be hosting a recruitment table on May 12th, Monday and 14th, Wednesday

Wellness activity
30-Minute Chair Yoga plus Core
Virtual session organized by Penn HR. The chair yoga + core program consists of moves you can do to tone your abdominals, lengthen your spine, and strengthen your entire torso region.

CREATE Award ceremony (virtual event)
Nominations are open for CREATE Awards. Please consider submitting an nomination here a nomination form.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS (now closed)
If you would like to nominate a colleague or clinical research team for one of the nine categories of distinction, please complete all components of the nomination form. The nomination process has been refined to reduce the burden on the nominators. The process will now consist of the following steps:
- Nominator completes a nomination form to nominate a CRP for one of the CREATE Award Categories. Nominator provides contact information for nominee, supervisor of nominee, and references if applicable. The initial survey must be completed by March 31st.
- Nominee is automatically sent a survey to accept the nomination and provide their CV for the selection committee to review. Their response is required by April 7th.
- Nominee’s supervisor is automatically sent a survey to confirm the nominee’s eligibility for the award and to endorse the nomination. Their response is required by April 7th.
- For categories 7 & 8, two references for the nominee are automatically sent a survey to endorse the nomination. Their response is required by April 7th.
CREATE AWARD CATEGORIES:
- Distinguished Performance in a Research Assistant Role – recognizes CRPs with varied responsibilities in facilitating clinical trials including working with patients
- Distinguished Performance in a Clinical Research Coordinator Role – recognizes CRPs with varied responsibilities in coordinating clinical trials including working with patients
- Distinguished Performance in a Research Role with Clinical Licensure – recognizes CRPs who apply their clinical expertise to promote safe data collection from patients
- Distinguished Performance in a Regulatory or Monitoring & Compliance Role – recognizes CRPs who use expert knowledge of regulatory standards to promote patient safety and data integrity
- Distinguished Performance in a Data Management and Informatics Role – recognizes CRPs who facilitate the collection, analysis, and security of clinical data
- Distinguished Performance in a Research Administrative or Financial Officer Role – recognizes CRPs who manage the budgetary and/or logistical systems that facilitate clinical research
- Excellence in Leadership of Clinical Research Professionals – recognizes mentors and leaders of CRPs who share knowledge and advocate for their colleagues
- Clinical Research Professional Lifetime Achievement Award – recognizes CRPs who have dedicated their careers to the success of clinical research at Penn Medicine
- Innovations in Clinical Research Operations Award – recognizes groups who build systems that improve how we conduct clinical research at Penn Medicine

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to prioritize self-care, mindfulness, and well-being. Join us for a Wellness Walk to refresh your mind, move your body, and connect with others in a peaceful outdoor setting. Walking is a simple yet powerful way to reduce stress, boost mood, and improve overall mental health.

Seminar "Community Engagement Matters" (virtual event)
This event aims to highlight community-based clinical research conducted by Penn and CHOP teams, and related resources. Speakers are Penn and CHOP clinical research physicians, their family partners and community advocates. Presentation will be followed by a moderated panel discussion.
Event will be hosted virtually, on May 15th 2025, 1:30-3:30PM EST.
