BIO STATEMENT

Kenechukwu Chudy-Onwugaje, MBBS, MPH, MS, FACG is a gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist with BJC Healthcare. He is passionate about the expansion of access to gastrointestinal endoscopy in sub-Saharan Africa through education and capacity building. He is a co-investigator of a project supported by the University of Maryland President’s Global Impact Fund to strengthen gastroenterology training in Rwanda.

He completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center and had further training in advanced endoscopy at the University of Pennsylvania.

RECENT GLOBAL HEALTH PROJECTS

I am the Chair of the International Relations Committee of the American College of Gastroenterology. In this role, I lead the efforts of the College in the engagement of her international membership. This is primarily through various educational activities and the provision of grant support for gastroenterologists and GI trainees to obtain international clinical and research training.

I am part of an ongoing collaborative effort between the Rwanda Society for Endoscopy, GI Rising and the University of Rwanda to support gastroenterology education and endoscopic training in Rwanda.
