BIO STATEMENT
Rmaah Memon, MD is a Global EM Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from the 6-Year BA/MD Program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she worked with refugee populations and piloted health fairs for resource-denied populations. While completing her emergency medicine residency at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, she was involved with emergency medicine capacity building in Pakistan and Iraq. She has an interest in digital health and technology in the realm of global emergency medicine and is piloting a telemedicine initiative in Pakistan.
Recent Global Health Projects
I piloted a telemedicine course training non-emergency medicine physicians in Pakistan to practice urgent care telemedicine. Since we went live in April 2024, over 250 physicians have joined the course. This course aims to train physicians to provide telemedicine, with the long-term goal of connecting these physicians to patients in rural areas where there is no access to care.
I am currently working on a set of videos related to pregnancy emergencies/complications for lady health workers (LHWs). LHWs are community health workers in Pakistan who serve their local provinces. They act as first-line responders and mainly provide vaccination and disease screening tests. We are going to show these videos to LHWs in person, followed by a survey and will provide LHWs with a paper copy of summary topics from the videos.
