Bio statement

Ruth Woldemichael M.D. graduated from Rice University with a major in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and completed medical school at Texas A&M College of Medicine in Dallas, Texas, where she received several awards including induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her volunteer work with refugee families. She completed her OB/GYN residency at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Nashville and is Penn Medicine’s inaugural Global Women's Health Fellow.  Creating the first partnership with Penn Center of Global Health, she is working with Médecins sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in Mexico City, Mexico. Her project focuses on perinatal care, contraceptive access, sexual health, and sexual violence risk reduction in the migrant population. She is also currently finishing her MPH here at UPenn and will be starting Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine next year with continued focus on Global Health. She works at Penn OB/GYN Associates as an Academic Specialist, supports medical education through the Penn OB/GYN residency, and has helped develop educational curriculum for the VinUni-UPenn partnership in Vietnam.
