BIO STATEMENT
Growing up in Sudan, I volunteered in underserved communities lacking basic essentials like water & electricity, let alone healthcare. After immigrating & pursuing medical training in the US, I was struck by a different yet equally troubling dimension of health disparities. Even in high-resource settings, inequities persist & disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. These deepened my understanding to global health & fueled my determination to dismantle disparities & create a future where health is fair, consistent, & equitable for all. Let's work toward a world where healthcare access is not dictated by geography, resources, or privilege but is a fundamental right.
Recent Global Health Projects
Two-thirds of the world’s population lacks access to essential radiology services, as such we created a global survey to understand about the status of Interventional Radiology (IR) and help overcome the disparities in the field through data-driven approaches and increased international collaboration. The survey collected 1,253 responses and was analyzed providing valuable insights about the status of IR in many developed and developing countries, and showed the current practice disparities, challenges, and needs in each region so that interventions are employed more effectively and equitably. The data was then connected to a shapefile for geographical analysis and an interactive ArcGIS map was created for visualization of country-level responses highlighting the disparities more clearly. This will support policy-driven solutions to expand the field globally and improve patient outcomes.
