Hello, my name is Jon Epstein, the Interim Dean for the Perelman School of Medicine and I want to welcome you as you begin your graduate studies.

As one of the world’s leading academic medical centers, the Perelman School of Medicine is consistently at the forefront of innovations in education, research, and patient care.

Our missions are inextricably linked and they are interdependent; clinical care inspires our research; research provides new hope for patients; and education occurs in an environment teaming with curiosity and rigorous standards of evidence.

Whichever master or certificate program you are pursuing, you will be part of a vibrant, innovative community, one rich in resources and opportunities. I invite you to take advantage of the many areas of support offered throughout your educational journey, beginning with the fantastic educators and your fellow students.

At the Perelman School of Medicine, you will have the opportunity to explore our twenty-eight academic departments, and you will also find cutting-edge, interdisciplinary centers and institutes, that bring faculty together from across departments. We champion an environment where everyone is welcome to contribute and to advance our common goal of improving the health of our community and our world. 

There is something for everyone at the Perelman School of Medicine and I hope that you will take the opportunity to leverage all that this fine institution has to offer for you.  Penn was the first medical school in this nation, and we remain as proud of what we do.

Hello my name is Emma Meagher, Associate Dean for Master's & Certificate programs.

On behalf of the leadership of our historic institution, I welcome you to the Perelman School of Medicine.

We are delighted that you have chosen Penn to continue your graduate education. 

You are joining a community of more than 800 students enrolled in one of 13 master’s degree programs and 12 certificate programs. Together with medical students, PhD students, postdoctoral trainees, residents, and fellows, you comprise our vibrant learning community. 

We look forward to ensuring that you have a productive and enjoyable leaning experience. 

Penn Medicine refers to the combination of Perelman School of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania Health System. In addition to the superlative education programs, the school is also home to a 1.2 billion dollar research enterprise and the origin of the COVID vaccine, genetic therapy for blindness and CAR-t cell therapy among many others.

The health system, comprised of 6 hospitals and numerous ambulatory care facilities, provide state of the art clinical care to millions of patients in urban, suburban, and rural setting and prioritizes the health and care of communities at large.  

You are joining Penn at an exciting time amidst our strategic plan.

Thrive at Penn

Thrive at Penn (TAP) for incoming graduate and professional students is an online program that assists students with their Penn experience. Thrive at Penn provides information about resources available to support student success. Topics covered include academic integrity; campus engagement, wellness and health; and healthy relationships and sexual violence prevention. Please take advantage of the resources found within Thrive at Penn at your own pace.

Student Accounts Must-Do List

Each program has a unique process by which matriculation, orientation and onboarding takes place. In addition to program-specific information, MaC Central encourages students to review the Student Registration & Financial Services (SRFS) Must-Do List. Tasks contained within this list ensure that your student account is set up properly and with preferred privacy settings. This also ensures that you will receive necessary communications from the University and that any expected funds will be received quickly and securely.
