The Christian J. Lambertsen Honorary Lecture
The Lambertsen Lecture recognizes the long and illustrious career of Christian J. Lambertsen, M.D. Dr. Lambertsen joined the faculty in the Department of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics in 1946 and became Professor of Pharmacology in 1953. In 1968, Dr. Lambertsen founded the Institute for Environmental Medicine and served as its Director until 1985. His research has focused on human atmospheric, undersea and aerospace environmental physiology and toxicology, and he is considered the "father of U.S. combat swimming". Dr. Lambertsen is the recipient of scores of prestigious awards and honors from the University, in addition to national, industrial and military organizations.
