How to Join Our Lab

There are a number of ways to join our lab:

Undergraduate or graduate research assistants are unpaid positions. Research assistants are asked to commit at least one year to lab. Most students work 8-10 hours a week. We accept applications all year, but typically interview in the spring for either a summer or fall start date. Those who wish to join us at the beginning of spring semester are encouraged to apply no later than mid-fall. In order to apply, please prepare a cover letter that details your interest in lab, what you hope to learn, and any skills you have. This should be lab specific. We would also like to have a copy of your CV or resume. Upload those documents and complete the rest of the application here

Summer Interns. Please see our page devoted to our summer internship, our role in the CHOP Research Institute Summer Program, and graduate research fellowships. We will begin reviewing applications for Summer 2024 in January, 2024.

Conducting Research with Us.  It is possible to work with us to complete your undergraduate honors thesis/independent study, master’s thesis, or dissertation. Medical students have also completed a research rotation with us. In order to conduct research, you must go through the same interview and on-boarding process as research assistants. Please tell us a little about what you would like to do by completing an application here. We will review your materials and be in touch to talk about your ideas.

Per CHOP policy, all new research assistants must complete a comprehensive background check, training in research ethics, and job specific training. Once you become a part of our team, it can take approximately 6 weeks to complete all clearances. Please plan your application with us accordingly. CHOP requires all employees and volunteers to be vaccinated against Covid-19 and will require proof of vaccination upon onboarding.
