Informed Consent Language

CAMRIS requires specific clauses be included in the study ICF to ensure safety and communicate proper risk-benefit information to participants consenting to a research MRI.  Please refer to the below document for language to include in your study ICF.

Gadolinium Contrast Information

Please refer to CAMRIS Policy 301: Use of Gadolinium in Human Research Studies for guidance on the safe use of gadolinium-based contrast agents (“gadolinium”) in human studies. The UPENN Radiology clinical service uses Dotarem. Dotarem will be used for your study unless prior approval is obtained. Study teams are responsible for including the designated Gadolinium Risk Clauses in their ICFs, and for distributing the flyer and appropriate medication guide to study participants prior to the research scan taking place.

IV Line Placement

Please review SOP #301: Use of Gadolinium in Human Research Studies for our policy related to intravenous line placement. CAMRIS does not perform ultrasound-guided IV placement. It is the study team's responsibility to screen participants for difficult IV access. Studies that are determined to have a high rate of IV placement failures must utilize a non-CAMRIS resource for the placement of IV lines. The Center for Human Phenomic Science (CHPS) Research Nursing Core provides IV line placement services for patients that need a line placed for research MRI. Studies must have CHPS approval and a nursing worksheet prior to scheduling this service.

Instructions for obtaining IV Line Placement services from CHPS are available here:
