Re: Appointment of Christopher D. Masotti as Vice Dean for Finance and Operations

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher D. Masotti, CPA, MBA, as Vice Dean for Finance and Operations in the Perelman School of Medicine, filling a vacancy created by the departure of Rebecca Cooke. The appointment is effective March 1, 2016.

Chris brings a wealth of experience in medical school finance and administration, higher education leadership, and public accounting in the corporate sector. Among a strong pool of candidates, he demonstrated a deep understanding of the evolving funding mechanisms in academic medicine and experience as a collaborative leader within a matrix organization. For the past nine years, he has worked at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine, where he is currently Vice Dean for Finance and Administration. He served previously as Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration and Senior Associate Dean for Finance. In those roles, Chris led long- and short-term planning, strategic budgeting and financial operations, pre- and post-award grants management, information technology, and facility operations throughout the school of medicine. His wide ranging responsibilities included developing and negotiating chair offer letters and recruitment packages for clinical and basic science departments. He was also instrumental in the consolidation of several practice plans and in the implementation of hospital and university consulting projects involving combined missions and funds flow.

Prior to joining the school of medicine, Chris worked at Case Western for five years, serving first as the university’s Director of the Office of Internal Audits and then as Assistant Vice President of Strategic Planning. Before that he had a nine year career in the private sector at PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Chris earned his BS magna cum laude at Villanova University, where he majored in accounting and, as a member of the varsity basketball team, was a Big East Academic All-Star. He completed his MBA at Case Western with a concentration in Finance.

Please join us in welcoming Chris Masotti to the Perelman School of Medicine and our senior leadership team.
