U.S. News & World Report 2018-19 Best Hospitals Rankings

It is our pleasure to announce that Penn Medicine hospitals have once again been named among the top hospitals in the nation and #1 in the state of Pennsylvania by U.S. News & World Report in the magazine’s annual “Best Hospitals” rankings.
As the combined Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, we were among only 20 institutions – and the only one in the Philadelphia region – named to the publication’s Honor Roll out of nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide. In addition to being named #1 in Pennsylvania, HUP-PPMC was once again ranked #1 in the Philadelphia metro area.
Together, HUP and PPMC were also recognized for our excellence in 12 specialties, including Cancer, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT), Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, and Urology.
All four other Penn Medicine hospitals also netted honors. Lancaster General Health (LGH) was ranked #6 in the state, and Chester County Hospital was ranked #10 in the state, #5 in the Philadelphia region, and nationally ranked in Diabetes & Endocrinology. Pennsylvania Hospital was ranked #6 in Philadelphia, #12 in the state, and was nationally ranked in Gynecology and Orthopedics. Princeton Health, which joined Penn Medicine in early 2018, was ranked #10 in New Jersey and #20 in the New York Metro Area.
