U.S. News & World Report 2019-20 Best Hospitals Rankings

It is our pleasure to announce that Penn Medicine hospitals have been named among the top hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in the magazine’s annual “Best Hospitals” rankings.
As the combined Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, we were among only 21 institutions named to the publication’s Honor Roll out of nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide. Once again, HUP-PPMC was ranked #1 in the Philadelphia metro area.
Together, HUP and PPMC were also recognized for excellence in 11 specialties, including Cancer, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT), Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Pulmonology & Lung Surgery, and Urology. HUP-PPMC was also rated as “high performing” in eight of the nine procedures and conditions ranked, including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair; Aortic Valve Surgery; Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD); Colon Cancer Surgery; Heart Bypass Surgery; Heart Failure; Knee Replacement; and Lung Cancer Surgery.
All four other Penn Medicine hospital entities also netted honors. Lancaster General Hospital (LGH) was ranked #7 in the state, and Chester County Hospital was ranked #13 in the state and #7 in the Philadelphia metro area. Pennsylvania Hospital was ranked #9 in state and #4 in the Philadelphia metro area, and was nationally ranked in Gynecology and Neurology & Neurosurgery. Princeton Health was ranked #11 in New Jersey.
